Launching financial trading website in Adskeeper with autobidder and click fraud protection
At ScroogeFrog, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional native ad management services across networks like Taboola, Outbrain, MGID, Adskeeper, and Revcontent. In this case study, we showcase our success in managing native ads for a financial trading website targeting EU audiences.
The client aimed to drive registrations for their online trading platform through targeted native ad campaigns. They had support managers fluent in English and Polish, which led to the creation of one landing page in Polish and five in English. The Polish campaign focused on Poland, while the English campaigns targeted users in Cyprus, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Slovenia, and Ireland.
Examples:
Step 1: Connecting Adskeeper to Tracking Systems
We began by integrating the ad network (Adskeeper) with the client’s tracking system (Keitaro) using Postback URL technology. This ensured seamless data flow:
- Click IDs were added to the external_id parameter in the URL when users clicked on ads.
- Upon registration, the click IDs were sent back to Adskeeper via the Postback URL, along with the target action details.
This integration allowed us to track clicks, spendings, conversions, and conversion costs within the ad network.
Step 2: Implementing ScroogeFrog’s AI Antifraud System
To enhance traffic quality, we deployed ScroogeFrog’s AI Antifraud system on all landing pages:
- JavaScript Code: Integrated into the HTML of the landing pages to monitor user activity once the page was fully loaded in the browser.
- Server-Side Code: Plugged into the PHP files to analyze user behavior during HTTP requests.
The AI Antifraud system, trained on millions of real and fake sessions, used ML algorithms to detect and block fraudulent traffic in real time.
Step 3: Campaign Setup and Optimization
We launched 24 ad campaigns, with four campaigns per landing page, targeting specific devices: Android, iOS, desktop, and tablets. Campaign parameters included:
- UTM tags for tracking (source, campaign ID, creative ID, and publisher ID).
- Initial click limits of 500 per campaign, later increased for high-performing campaigns.
- Separate campaigns for mobile internet users due to their higher conversion rates.
Each campaign included 10 creatives, optimized for engagement and performance.
Step 4: Autobidder Management and Fraud Prevention
Using ScroogeFrog’s autobidder, we dynamically managed:
- Bids per campaign, creative, and publisher: Adjusted based on conversion and spending data every 3 hours.
- Underperforming campaigns/creatives/publishers: Automatically paused if performance fell below acceptable thresholds.
The autobidder worked alongside the AI Antifraud system, which blocked publishers with 25% or more bot traffic, ensuring the client received high-quality leads.
Results
After running the campaigns, we achieved the following results:
- Clicks: 154,898
- Total Spend: $11,996 (Average CPC: $0.077)
- Conversions: 327
- CPA: $36.70 (10% higher than the target of $33, still within acceptable margins)
Key Takeaways
- Optimized campaigns yield results: Device-specific campaigns and separating high-converting countries (e.g., Belgium and Netherlands) maximized ROI.
- Autobidder efficiency: Regular bid adjustments reduced inefficiencies and maintained competitive CPC rates.
- Fraud prevention is essential: ScroogeFrog’s AI Antifraud system ensured ad spend was allocated to genuine traffic.
This case study highlights how native ads, combined with advanced automation tools like autobidder and click fraud protection, can deliver exceptional results for businesses looking to scale.
